A New Convention District in Downtown Houston
The transformation of the George R. Brown Convention Center will introduce a new South Building and reimagine the surrounding area as a vibrant convention and event district. Designed around walkable streets, public plazas, and connected venues, the project will bring together world-class events, entertainment, and gathering spaces in the heart of downtown.
Located within walking distance of major league sports venues and Discovery Green, the new district will create an exciting environment for conventions, festivals, and community events year-round.

The South Building
The new South Building expands the convention center with modern, flexible event space designed to host some of the largest meetings and conventions in North America.
Highlights include:
- Texas’ largest ballroom with over 60,000 square feet of space
- A striking multi-level atrium filled with natural light
- 200,000+ square feet of connected exhibit space
- New retail and dining spaces along Festival Street
- A 40,000-square-foot multipurpose hall designed for exhibitions, general sessions, and large events
Outdoor Event Spaces
The transformation also introduces more than 100,000 square feet of outdoor event space, including a central plaza designed for concerts, watch parties, and large public gatherings.
A new pedestrian corridor will extend Avenida de las Americas and connect Discovery Green to the expanded convention campus, creating a dynamic destination for visitors and residents alike.

Designed for the Future
The South Building will feature advanced technology, sustainable design targeting LEED Gold certification, and modern amenities throughout the campus. From integrated digital signage to rooftop green space and flexible meeting areas, the new facility is designed to support the evolving needs of events and attendees.
