Avenida Plaza

Six lanes and the length of five city blocks are being converted into Avenida Plaza, a 99,000 square foot, pedestrian-friendly, outdoor space. Within Avenida Plaza is The Wharf, an intimate special event space overlooking Discovery Green’s beautiful oak alley and "Wings Over Water" in the Fountain of the Americas, dancing water sculpture with specialty lighting for visitors to enjoy. This interactive piece was created by Joe O'Connell & Creative Machines.

Grand Lobby & Beyond

The new Grand Lobby will be 10 stories high and showcase Ed Wilson’s "Soaring in the Clouds" sculpture from the ceiling in the very center of the GRB. From there, patrons will have improved connectivity to 550,000 square feet of prime exhibition space via a 95,000 square foot Grand Concourse.

From registration to receptions, the new Skyline Flex Space can accommodate it all. Located on Mezzanine Level 2 of the GRB, it will feature over 90,000 square feet and sweeping views of downtown Houston. In addition to the four existing balconies, we’re adding two more balconies for our guests to enjoy.

More Parking Options

Avenida Houston will soon have over 6,000 dedicated garage parking spots, with more than half connecting to the GRB via indoor skybridges. The Avenida North and Avenida South garages each have a ground level Transit Center to shuttle patrons from their hotels directly into the GRB with ease. Public Art

Downtown Houston will soon expand its cultural landscape within the GRB & Partnership Tower. In addition to "Soaring in the Clouds" and "Wings Over Water" a series of ten art installations by local Houston artists will be placed throughout the buildings as part of Houston First’s "Houston Infusion" initiative. Works fabricated in a variety of media and imagined by a diverse group of artists and collaborators will explore themes of space and technology, Houston’s natural flora and fauna, reuse and recycling, the city’s vibrant cultural diversity and its entrepreneurial history.

The artists -- Reginald C. Adams; Joe Aker and Tami Merrick; Shane Allbritton; Pablo Gimenez-Zapiola; Lorena Morales; Page Piland; RE:site Studio: Shane Allbritton, Norman Lee and Michael Gonzales; Britt Thomas; Ben Woitena -- all live and work around the Houston area. Restaurants

A series of restaurants will open on the ground floor of the GRB, Partnership Tower and in the forthcoming Marriott Marquis Houston. Grotto, Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, McAlister’s Deli, and Bud’s Pitmaster BBQ, among other restaurant concepts, will join downtown newcomers Pappasito’s Cantina and the recently-expanded Starbucks at the Hilton Americas-Houston, beginning the transformation of the convention district into the cosmopolitan destination Avenida Houston.
